This free educational outreach event will conducted by N.I.Pirogov NMSC in cooperation with IPM Movement Against Cancer and non-profit partnership Equal Right to Life.
The School will help to get the most current information on timely diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, methods of psychological support and rehabilitation (who is at risk, diagnostic methods for each patients’ age, what to do if diagnosis was confirmed, what are the rights of patients, drug provision, etc.).
Participation in the Patients’ School will be useful both for women with breast pathology and for health care workers, medical students and anyone interested in getting the latest information about the disease.
At the end of lecture participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and get useful recommendations from leading experts: oncologists, psychologists, lawyers.
For residents of the Eastern District of Moscow, this event will became a “first lesson” in a series of such educational events.
It is not a mere chance that the first lesson of Patients’ School is dedicated to breast cancer: it will be held on the eve of October, which is the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Public organizations, famous people, activists around the world are trying to do everything possible to remind women of the need for timely diagnosis. Indeed, according to statistics the breast cancer ranks first among the most common cancer types in women, one woman in eight is at risk of getting breast cancer. In most cases, patients are diagnosed at a late stage of their disease, while timely diagnosis significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and full recovery.
The Patients’ School will be held at: Moscow, Nizhniaia Pervomaiskaya street, 70, build. 19, tel. 499-464-1054, N.I.Pirogov National Medical Surgical Center
