The event, aimed to promote the formation of effective approaches to prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases, will bring together leading experts in the field of health care, representatives of government and public institutions of Russia.
The priority task of the National nonprofit program “Main Road” is the execution of the Order of the Russian Government of 28.12.2012 No. 2599-R “On approval of plan (“Main Road”) titled Changes in the social sphere aimed at improving health.” The Main Road project started in February last year, gathering experts from various fields and areas of medicine able to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the existing problems in controlling non-communicable diseases, and to develop algorithms for implementation of global best practices in the Russian health care system. Representatives of the executive branch of the federal level, of professional medical societies, public and patient organizations joined efforts to develop a unified strategy to overcome excess mortality due to non-communicable diseases. The role of project’s executive body was assigned to the non-profit partnership “Equal Right to Life” and autonomous non-profit organization “Social Economy Center”.
Non-communicable diseases (cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, pulmonary diseases, etc.) cause 60% of deaths globally. This is a serious social and demographic problem as the national human capital is at risk, namely, people of productive age. At the round table “Main Road” in Nizhny Novgorod, experts will discuss the most important socio-economic problems in the prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases; analyze legal aspects of specialized care; study topical issues of availability of cancer care in the administrative center of the Volga Federal District.
The round table will bring together:
• David Melik-Guseinov, Director of the Social Economy Center, cand. sci. (pharmacy), expert in health care. “Actualization of socio-economic problems in the field of non-communicable diseases at the federal and regional levels in the Russian Federation»;
• Vitaly Mikhailovich Terekhov – cand. med. sci., chief medical officer, chief oncologist of the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Health. “Topical problems of providing cancer care to the population of Nizhny Novgorod Region”;
• Sergey Andreevich Timonin – cand. sci. (geography), research fellow at the Institute of Demography of the National Research University “Higher School of Economy”. “Medical and demographic analysis of cancer mortality in the Nizhny Novgorod region”;
• Olga Anatolievna Melnikova – cand. med. sci., leading oncologist and breast specialist, Russian Center of Emergency and Radiation Medicine named after A.N. Nikiforov of the Russian Emergency Ministry. “Breast Cancer: new solutions aimed at improving the effectiveness of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease”;
• Mikhail Vasilievich Pirogov – doct. sci. (economics), professor at the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, Editor in Chief of the magazine “Economist of Medical Institution”. “Organizational and economic support of targeted health care programs using clinical and statistical groups of diseases”;
• Nikolay Petrovich Dronov – Chairman of the Executive Committee of IPM “Movement Against Cancer”, member of the Council of public organizations for the protection of patients' rights under the Russian Ministry of Health. “Legal basis for the organization of specialized medical care in Russia by the example of non-communicable diseases”.
