On October 23 at 16:00 Moscow time the online Patients’ School will be held dedicated to modern technologies in the treatment of breast cancer. It is an interactive webcast of experts’ presentations with the opportunity for the audience to ask questions and get advice on individual cases. The webcast is open for anyone who wants to participate – simply register following the link my.webinar.ru/event/189989/ and login at the scheduled time.
Patients’ Schools are free educational events, which are organized by inter-regional public movement "Movement Against Cancer" with the support of non-profit partnership "Equal Right to Life". The Schools are held regularly for already two years and are dedicated to the most important issues of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, patients' rights, and psychological rehabilitation. Doctors, lawyers, psychologists and even patients who have beaten cancer make their presentations for Schools’ participants.
At the online Patients’ School to be held on October 23 speakers will talk about the latest technologies in the treatment of breast cancer, specifics of psychological rehabilitation of patients with this diagnosis, they will help to cope with feelings caused by the disease, will discover the legal and organizational aspects of medical care and social protection. At the end presentation, each lecturer will give practical advice and answer questions from the Internet audience. Any Patients’ School participant will have an opportunity to ask questions by typing (in chat / forum) or speaking (a video-call format). The school will be useful not only for patients but also for everyone whose friends or relatives encountered this disease.
The topic of the upcoming School is particularly relevant, because October is the Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a campaign initiated by the World Health Organization and held in different countries around the world including in Russia. In Russia, the breast cancer contribution to the total number of malignant neoplasms in 2011 was 15 to 20% (according to various estimates), the total number of women with this diagnosis exceeded 500 000.
• The Patients’ School dedicated to up-to-date technology in the treatment of breast cancer will be opened by Irina Viktorovna Vysotskaya, professor at the Department of Oncology of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. She will talk about the latest advances in the treatment of breast cancer, the timely and adequate treatment, and programs involving the use of new drugs that makes it possible to significantly reduce mortality from this disease. The psychological unit of the School will include presentation of Oksana Vladislavovna Nazarova, psychotherapist of the autonomous non-profit organization "Project Co-operate"; she will cover aspects of psychological rehabilitation of patients with breast cancer. Nikolay Petrovich Dronov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the interregional public movement "Movement Against Cancer" and deputy executive director (legal matters) of the non-profit partnership "Equal Right to Life" will talk about the rights of patients to receive medical care and social protection.
During the webcast, consultation in chat will be available. Participants’ questions will be answered by:
