Hot line psychological support for cancer patients "CO-operation" celebrated 8th anniversary

On July 3, the hotline support service for cancer patients and their relatives 8-800-100-0191 celebrated its 8th anniversary. There are not so many years, but let's consider what was actually achieved.

The main objective of the project "CO-operation" is to help those who are struggling with cancer: to adapt, to get out and walk this difficult path.
"When the hot line started working, it received ten calls per month. Now the amount of calls is three thousand. The total number of calls that we responded to in 8 years exceeded 100 thousand. This does not mean that in our country they started treating worse or people became ill more frequently. This figure shows that customers trust us and recommend our hotline to each other," - the organizers of the project say.
Since 2012 free individual consultations and weekly support group for patients “Foothold” are available for cancer patients and their relatives. In addition, for two years the specialists of “CO-operation” weekly work in leading oncology clinics of Moscow.
Congresses of oncopsychologists are a unique forum for experts, this is also the work of project CO-Operation”. The number of held conferences already reached 6, and the total number of participants exceeded one thousand people. Registration is already open for the VII Congress.
And yet, the main focus “CO-Operation” is to ensure the smooth operation of the hotline for patients and their relatives. Psychological and information support line is available around the clock and during working hours lawyers and priests are on duty. You can ask a question via the site, the consultant will respond by e-mail.
In addition to telephone counseling and face-to-face work, the project “CO-Operation” sees as its global objective the increase of tolerance to cancer patients in the community, dispelling myths about cancer, and, as a consequence, improving the quality of life and withdrawal from social isolation of each cancer patient in the country.
"It’s for you to decide how significant our results. But we would not be able to achieve them without the support of caring people , helping the “CO-Operation” project in word and deed, and without our wonderful volunteers-psychologists who spend so much time and effort on the meticulous and careful work with each received message. So it is our common anniversary," - the letter to the organizers says.
