Cancer patients in Chelyabinsk region will listen lectures on how to maintain the quality of life

On April 21 (Monday) at 17:00, in Chelyabinsk, the Patients’ School will be held, dedicated to prevention and correction of adverse symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. On April 25 (Friday) at 14:00, seminar will be held titled “Doctor of own body. The practice of self-healing.” Within the framework of free educational events organized by the interregional public movement “Movement Against Cancer” and non-profit partnership “Equal Right to Life”, experts tell the audience how to restore health, strength and well-being after chemotherapy and radiation therapy, morally tune to overcome the serious disease and to receive social and legal protection guaranteed by the law.
According to the Russian Association of Oncologists, cancer mortality in our country is one of the highest - after detection of cancer every third patient dies within the first year. Russia annually loses 300,000 people due to cancer; that's 10 times more than the number of road accidents victims. Now there are three million of cancer patients in Russia, this problem affects more than 12% of the population in this or that way.
Meanwhile, many forms of cancer can be successfully treated; they can be stopped and even completely cured with timely diagnosis, proper treatment and adequate rehabilitation. Therefore comprehensive medical, psychological and legal support for each patient aimed at preserving his or her health and quality of life, has been and remains the main task of Patients’ Schools, which are held throughout Russia to implement the government objectives of prevention and early detection of tumor pathologies.

Schedule for April 21: 
• Welcoming address to the participants of Patients’ School will be delivered by coordinator of Chelyabinsk Branch of IPM “Movement Against Cancer” Tatiana Victorovna Frolova.
• During medical unit of the School, oncologist of Municipal Polyclinic No. 9 Galina Mikhailovna Omelchenko will report on prevention and correction of adverse symptoms of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
• During organizational and legal unit of the School, lawyer Georgiy Sergeevich Stepanenkov will talk about social and legal protection of the rights and interests of cancer patients, receiving free medical care and medicines under the state guarantee program.

Schedule for April 25: 
• Welcoming address to the participants of Patients’ School will be delivered by Chelyabinsk City Duma deputy, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Social Policy Natalia Alexandrovna Baskova.
• During medical unit of the School, a lecture on possibilities of using the body's internal potential and self-healing practices will be delivered by psychologist Irina Syomina.
• During organizational and legal unit of the School, lawyer Georgiy Sergeevich Stepanenkov will talk about social and legal protection of the rights and interests of cancer patients, receiving free medical care and medicines under the state guarantee program.

After lectures, participants of Patients’ School will be able to ask questions to experts and get advice on individual cases.
