On February 4, 2016 MIA "Russia Today" press center will host the 9th Forum "Movement Against Cancer".
The event is held annually in the World Cancer Day and gathers leading oncologists, representatives of federal and regional legislative and executive authorities, public and patient organizations, opinion leaders, representatives of mass media and various business sectors including pharmaceutical industry. The central theme of the 9th Forum 2016 will be public discussion of the action plan aimed at reducing cancer mortality and increase in the length and quality of patients’ life.
Forum "Movement Against Cancer" is organized by the leading Russian cancer organizations Interregional Public Movement «Movement Against Cancer» and Non-Commercial Partnership «Equal Right To Life» with overall support of the Association of Oncologists of Russia and personally Chief Oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Davydov. The event has been held annually since 2008, and during that time became the largest Russian expert platform to discuss issues of public health policy and particularly problems related to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
The Forum will focus special attention on the protection of the rights of patients to receive timely and adequate medical care.
Experts agree that Russia needs the National Program aimed at reducing cancer mortality. Such programs exist now in other nosologies, for example, cardiovascular diseases and show positive and effective outcomes. Each year half a million people in Russia are diagnosed with cancer, however, the National Cancer Program is yet to be adopted.
The outcome of the event will be a collective appeal to the country President Vladimir Putin where delegates of the Forum will present a plan of specific system solutions and measures aimed at reducing the cancer mortality and increase in the length and quality of patients’ life.
The program includes the official opening, round tables discussions and press conference for the media. Live streaming will be available throughout the event for participants in different regions.
