PATIENTS WILL HELP DEPUTIES OF MOSCOW DUMA TO IMPROVE THE LEGISLATION FOR THE PROTECTION OF PATIENTS’ RIGHTS

The Council of Patient’s Organizations was established at Moscow City Duma. It will be involved in improving the legislation and some legal acts concerning issues that are the responsibility of the Duma Commission on Health Care and Public Health. This decision was taken on February 18 at the Commission meeting.

The Council will also review and analyze draft legal acts and evaluate programs and proposals to address the problems of Moscow and administrative divisions (okrugs) and districts of the city in the sphere of public health. In addition, the new body will be involved in the preparation of proposals for the development of interregional and international relations of the Duma Committee on Health.

The advisory council will include representatives of Russian non-governmental organizations that provide assistance to patients with rare and socially significant diseases. The elected Chairman of the Council is Nickolay Dronov, Head of the Executive Committee of the interregional public movement “Movement Against Cancer”, which is one of the most active Russian public anti-cancer organizations that for over 5 years are helping cancer patients whose rights were violated.
